Sleep is an important topic in Islamic literature. Islam through the Koran and Hadith even discusses the types of sleep, the importance of sleep, and good sleep practices. Islam considers sleep as one of the signs of the greatness of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala. Maybe not all religions have special studies like this.

"And among His signs are you sleeping night and day and your efforts to find some of His gifts, actually in signs for those who listen." [QS: ar Rum [30]: 23].

Apparently Sleep Sounds, Smart Brain

AL-Quran and hadith are very detailed discussing the problem of sleep, even including how the position which was blessed by the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘Alaihi Wassallam before modern scientists examined it.

Hadith al Barra bin Azib, the Messenger of Allah said:

"If you are going to sleep, then your ablution (perfectly) is like you ablution for prayer, then lie down on the side of your right body." (Narrated by Bukhari).

In another history the Prophet also said: "Lie on the ribs on your right hand," (Hr Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

Sleeping Ala Nabi, Besides Being Healthy, Blessings too!

The Prophet also hated those who slept on his stomach. From Ibn Tikhfah Al Ghifari, from Abu Dharr, he said, "The Prophet sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam passed before me and at that time I was sleeping on my stomach.

He moved me with his feet. He also said, "O Junaidib, sleep like that like the lying of the inhabitants of hell." (Narrated by Ibn Majah)

Here are the benefits of sleeping on the right side to the side taken from various sources.

Sleeping in the right position can rest the left brain. By sleeping sideways to the right, it can avoid the danger that arises such as deposition of blood clots, fat, acid residual oxidation, and narrowing of blood vessels.
Can reduce heart burden.

With the position to the right side during sleep can make blood evenly distributed and concentrated to the right side of the body, making the flow of blood into and out of the heart more slowly so that the heart rate slower and blood pressure will decrease.

Resting the stomach. Sleeping on your right side causes a smooth flow of chiem so that bile is increased. This can prevent the gallbladder stones.
Increases the absorption time of nutrients.

With the sleeping position on the right side makes the food digestible longer, so the absorption of food essence is more optimal.
Stimulate defecation.

Sleeping on your right side will make the filling of the large intestine full faster so that it stimulates large bowel movements and relaxation of the anus muscle. This will stimulate to defecate.

Rest your left foot. Sleeping on your right side will help empty the veins of your left leg so that the pain will disappear faster.

Maintain lung health. The right lung is bigger than the left lung.

When you sleep on your right side, your heart will also lean to the right.

This is not a problem because the heart will suppress the right lung which is larger in size.
Maintain the respiratory tract. Sleeping to the right will prevent the fall of the base of the tongue which can interfere with the respiratory tract.
